My son has a light blue hue under the bottom of his
eyes, and saggy eyes as
if he were a smoker. He has just turned 3. We adopted him almost a year
ago. He gets plenty of rest and eats well. Someone at the church thought
it had something possibly to do with his lungs. Any thoughts?
"I am thankful for yesterday, I love today, and I can't wait for
tomorrow!"
Hello,
It can be normal, but it also can be caused by poor sleep. Even though
he is
sleeping a lot, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good sleep.
Does he snore? Does he ever hold his breath at night? If he does either
of
these, he may need to have his tonsils and adenoids checked out to make
sure
that they are not to big, and interfering in his breathing pattern at
night.
If he really had lung problems, he should be having problems breathing,
or
frequent lung infections, and you didn't mention that. To make sure that
his
lungs are getting enough oxygen to his body, is a test called oximetry,
and is a
painless, quick measurement through his skin (with a probe).
I would take him in to a board certified pediatrician, and just have him
checked
out.
I hope that helps. Dr. Mike
