Hi
Jeanette,
A
headache in a 10 year old can happen, especially with sinus infections,
stress, menstrual periods, lack of sleep, visual problems, etc. But, the
fact that the headaches are not responding to aspirin is more
concerning.
Yes,
I think it is best for you to take your little girl in to see her doc.
Your
doc needs to start with a basic exam; check her heart rate, blood
pressure, etc. Look in her nose, and palpate (press) on her sinuses to
check to see if they are "infected".
Your
little girl also needs to have her
neurological (brain) status examined: her cranial nerves, her balance,
and inside her eyes. She needs to have a vision screening done, too.
Depending
on what he/she finds on the exam, your doctor will determine if he/she
thinks your daughter will need to have any tests done on her (e.g. MRI
or CTscan).
Also,
it's better to use ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) or acetaminophen
(Tylenol) to treat headaches in children, and not aspirin.
The
bike accident in September is most likely unrelated to these headaches.
In
summary, it is important to have your little girl seen as soon as
possible by her doc just to make sure everything is okay.
I
hope that puts you in the right direction and she feels better soon. Dr.
Mike
