| Hi, My name is Laura and I'm
the mommy of 8-month-old Braedon. His sleeping pattern is very awkward
lately. He used to sleep wonderfully in his crib and he has given me two
nights of 8 hours of sleep twice (when he was about 4 months old), but
now he refuses to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time and I'm wondering
how I can get him to sleep through the night. I'm a breastfeeding mom,
and I know that breastmilk is digested sooner than formula, but he's
nursing more at night than during the day. What can I do? Should an
8-month-old still be hungry every 2 hrs? His weight is 22 pounds and
he's about 30 inches long. He's a healthy boy, and has never had a
fever. I hope this information will help you to give me the best advise
I've heard so far. A worried mommy :) Thanks; Laura |

Hi Laura,
Sounds like he is still hungry.
Have you started him on solids yet? A jar of veggies and/or meat with a
night time bottle may help. And, you are right, breastmilk goes right
through kids. But, it is the best and most natural food for them. You
are going through a normal transition period. He will eventually sleep
through the night again.
Does that help? Dr. Mike
