Feeding Schedule for My Baby

Hello Dr. Mike, I'm a first time mom. My little girl is three weeks old. Like many moms I'm having problems at night feeding my baby. She'll take an ounce sometimes, which means she'll be up within the hour or less for more and other times two ounces and then she'll only sleep for an hour and half. During the day she will consistently take at least two ounces at every feeding. What can I do so that she'll get more regular at night. I have tried the wake/feed/play/nap routine during the day, but it doesn't seem to be helping, maybe I'm just impatient. Help, Milly

Hi Milly, It's a little too early to try and put her on a schedule. She will run the show for a few more months. She'll decide when to eat, poop and sleep. So, don't worry about a schedule yet, because your little girl isn't quite ready. I don't think you are impatient...just a concerned mom trying to do everything right for your baby. You will be a great mom!
