Dr. Michael
Pappas is a native
Toledoan.
He attended
DeVeaux grade school, and then received his high school diploma from
Roy C. Start High School.
He received his
Bachelor of Science degree in 3 years from
Youngstown State University
in northeastern Ohio, and his Doctor of Medicine degree in 3 years from
American University
in the British West Indies.
Dr. Mike went
on to complete his 3 year pediatric residency training at
Saint John Medical Center,
in Detroit, Michigan.
He then
completed 3 more years of training in pediatric critical care (intensive
care) at
Children's Hospital
and
Wayne State university,
in downtown Detroit.
Dr. Mike has
worked in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of
Medical College of Ohio,
from 1994 to 1997, and is the former director of the PICU at
Mercy Children's Hospital,
in Toledo, Ohio, from 1997 to 2000.
He has been the
recipient of teaching service of the year, and teacher of the year
awards.
He is the
co-author (with Drs. Hasan and Slonim) of the book
Intensive Thinking: Pediatric
Critical Care, which helps pediatricians take care of critically
ill children, and helps them pass the Board Exam. The book has been
distributed throughout the world.
Dr.
Mike is on staff at
Toledo Children's Hospital,
Flower Hospital,
Mercy Children's Hospital,
and
St. Luke's Hospital.
Dr.
Mike's
office is located in the Westchester Medical Arts building, Suite 202,
